Review: Dermatique Recuperating Cream

Both of my girls suffer with dry skin and eczema. With a Mum that has asthma, eczema and hayfever, it was unlikely that they wouldn't, according to our Doctor. E is mostly dry skin with some eczema on the tops of her arms whilst T has it across her lower abdomen and bottom and a tracing across her arms and back of her legs.

Dermatique Recuperating Cream is made to soothe irritate skin and give moisture to parched skin as well as promoting healing. Completely free of steroids and artificial fragrances, it is perfect for sensitive skin.

What Dermatique say:

"... this formula helps to calm the symptoms of eczema, psoriasis and other chronic conditions. The formula deeply moisturises while helping to repair the skin's protective moisture barrier in order to prevent dryness from returning in the future..."

".... this formula provides immediate relief from itching and becomes rapidly absorbed, so skin feels soothed and softened but never greasy".
  • Apply to the face, hands or anywhere on the body.
  • Soothing relief for irritated, itchy and dry skin.

  • Formulated for all skin types and suitable for adults or children.

What we thought:

We've been using the Recuperating Cream for a few weeks now and I must say, I'm very impressed with it.

E mostly won't allow me to put any cream or lotion on her (applying sun lotion is fun!) so its been difficult to gauge how well it has done on her but I have noticed a huge improvement with T. I would love to be able to show you a photo of her skin but the improvement has been most noticeable around her bottom and lower abdomen, which is covered by her nappy. The skin doesn't look so red and scaly and is much softer to the touch. More importantly, we haven't had any incidents of her skin bleeding, which it had done on occasion. We have gone from using the cream daily to using it every other day and her skin is still responding well to it.

Whilst I quite like a lightly scented product, for use on my little ones I do like that the cream is unscented and I like the use of natural ingredients in it.

Would I recommend it? Yes. At £29.50 for a 100ml tub, it isn't a cheap option for skincare where a tot is concerned, although it is marketed at people with skin conditions and not just children. A small amount does go a long way and I have been very surprised at how well it has lasted. It feels thick to apply and absorbs well. My only criticism is that it feels a little heavy on my hands when I apply it but that is just my personal preference.

In two minds about whether to buy this product or not? For more information about the Recuperating Cream and other products, as well as an impressive selection of customer reviews, visit the Dermatique website.

Just to be clear: Dermatique were kind enough to send me a tub of their recuperating cream to review.
