Perfect Excuses To Invest In A Hot New Bathroom

As regular readers (if there are any, ha!) of my blog will know, we have recently had our bathroom completely renovated and we love it. While it wasn’t on the list of our priorities in the early days, I’m so glad we have had it finished now - it makes such a difference to have an attractive bathroom space and it’s the perfect place to relax and wind down in the bath.

So, if you are umming and ahhing about investing in a new bathroom, I know how it feels. And while I would hate to tell you how to spend your money, our recent upgrade has given me some compelling reasons as to why you should just go for it. Here’s what I have found since our recent bathroom update.

It’s so worth it

Honestly, you will be so happy when your bathroom is finally finished, and you get to enjoy it. As anyone with young children will tell you, no room in the house is really yours anymore and the bathroom is the only place you can be truly private. Having a lovely, relaxing soak in the bathtub after a stressful day of working and looking after the kids is such a nicer experience when everything looks fresh, clean, and new. Plus, the newer your bathroom, the easier they are to keep clean. There are no downsides at all - other than the cost, of course!

It's an investment, not an expense
Ask any estate agent or housing expert, and they will all tell you that a new bathroom adds value to your home. In fact, it could be as much as an extra 3 percent you will be adding - so it’s not an expense, it’s an investment. You don’t have to spend a fortune, either. There is a wide range of shower baths for every budget, and your local home DIY store will have regular tile sales. It’s also worth pointing out that you can save even more money by learning some tiling basics and putting them up yourself.

It's good for the environment
If you have an old bathroom that hasn’t had any changes for a decade or so, the chances are that you are wasting valuable resources. Ditch the old radiators and invest in modern heated towel racks and you will cut your energy bills, while a better flush control on a new toilet will help you reduce water waste. New equipment is so much more efficient with water power and energy than older gear so you can tell yourself that your new bathroom will help you save the planet!

Safety Reasons
Regular readers of this blog will now that our old bathroom was in a terrible state. The shower was leaking water, there was no ventilation whatsoever, and the whole room looked incredibly dated and - quite honestly - grim. And the other trouble with old bathrooms that haven’t had a facelift for what seems like decades is that behind the tiles and walls may be unsafe. Electricity and plumbing regulations in the ‘good old days’ were not as stringent as they are today, and a complete refresh will give you the chance of ensuring safe electrics and plumbing for you and your family.

So, there you have it - if you are arguing with yourself about whether to take the plunge, I think these reasons might help you arrive at a decision. You won’t regret it!
