Buddy : Joining us soon!

We have had the dog conversation a number of times, D and I.  Up until recently, I was convinced we would still have a third child at some point and didn't want to have a dog with a baby but with the various health issues I have going on, it seems unwise. And with the mortgage to pay, we need my income coming in too.  When we had the girls, we were still living with my in-laws and so that wasn't so much of a concern.

Not only that, things are very different now. There's only 19 months between the girls so the nappy stage seemed to last forever but we're past it now. I can leave them to entertain themselves whilst I do chores etc. Unbelievably T starts school this year and I've now got some time back to myself. I don't know that I would have been able to give that up, I feel I need it for my sanity!

So after much consideration we've decided the time is finally right to get a dog. Not any dog though, a smooth haired miniature dachshund. D isn't a massive fan of dogs and has always said if he were to have a dog it would only be a sausage dog, which is lucky as I love them. We've opted for smooth haired as I have a reaction to wired haired.

Luckily a friend from work had a friend who breeds miniature dachshunds and, after chatting to her she confirmed she had two litters due in April. And here he is:

Born on 20th April,  he was two weeks old last Friday. After much discussion, we've left T name him Buddy, after the sausage dog from The Secret Life of Pets film, which she was obsessed with for quite some time!

We can go and see him for the first time in approximately 2-3 weeks and then we should be able to bring him home a few weeks after.

I am SO excited and can't wait for all the fun we will have with him.

  1. Just gorgeous. We only got a dog this year - we held out for SOOOOO long. My only problem is going away. We used to go away all the time but now it's really hard and we've not had a weekend away since the dog arrived...:( but so nice to have around #TwinklyTuesday

  6. Oh how cute - hope Buddy brings you and your family so much joy. We are definitely dog people. We currently have two jack russels and want to adopt another dog. However our older dog's temperament is not so good and we are a bit concerned about the social integration #Twinklytuesday
