Gratitude Journal #3

I'm on week 3 of my Gratitude Journal and its been a mixed up week with some highs and lows.

Parent's evening
We had E's parent's evening this week and it was all very positive. Whilst we're only a few weeks into the new school year, her teacher is pleased with her progress and was very complimentary about her, which is always nice to hear.

Lunch with my Mother in Law and a visit to the hairdressers
The first day of the school holidays was spent at my mother in laws with my niece. She has my niece one day a week and during the school holidays we always go over on that day so the girls can play together. This week I'd managed to book my hair appointment for the same day, forgetting that it was half term and my mother in law was good enough to look after the three of them so I could head off.  This was the first visit to the hairdressers and I'm really pleased with the cut so booked my next appointment!

Playdate with my niece
We had my niece over to play whilst my sister in law went to the hairdressers. Its the first time she's ever been over to ours on her own so I wasn't quite sure how it would go but she seemed to enjoy herself and told my mother in law she'd had a nice time. They didn't play as well together as I had hoped, with one of my two being left out at times, but overall it was ok. They played with the Peppa Pig toys, dolls, did some drawing, we played lego and snap and they had a disco.  Needless to say by the time my SIL came to collect her, I was shattered!

Emergency Drs appointment
The latest in the whole fibromyalgia-and-what-hurts-now... thing is my hip. At least I thought it was my hip. For a few weeks I've been having some pain in my left hip and calf.  Tuesday this week saw me struggling to get about easily. I stood up off the bed and every step I took was painful, not helped by T thinking I was being silly and smacking me right in the hip. I was really struggling to walk about, my legs have been so wobbly! Luckily I managed to get myself into the Drs who told me it wasn't my hip giving me trouble but my back. When she pressed along the base it was incredibly tender and painful. Because the tramadol I had been prescribed wasn't doing anything for the pain, she's now prescribed me a low dose of gabapentin. So far that dose hasn't worked so I have another appointment this week to follow up and I'm hoping she can help get the dose right. I've been feeling quite grumpy to be honest, its felt like one thing after another and I'm so fed up of being uncomfortable and in pain.

Here's hoping for a good week ahead.  My Mum is supposed to be coming for a few days so I'm hoping for a little respite.  What are you grateful for this week?

  3. I really do like reading your journals every week. Simple things like a trip to the hairdresser - we take for granted but it's important to appreciate these little things x #TwinklyTuesday

  4. Oh I hope they find a painkiller that helps, but at least you know it's your back an not your hip, so that will help. Glad E had a good parents evening! #TwinklyTuesday

  5. Your back sounds like trouble, a shame because the rest of the activities seem to be going really well. A new hair cut is always a boost and your daughter doing well in the new term at school. #TwinklyTuesday
