New Year's Eve 2018

New Year's Eve in our house is always a quiet affair. Or as quiet as it can be with two children! As a general rule, its a quiet day for us and the evening involves food and drink on the sofa in front of the TV with whatever special is on.

This year, I had the itch to get up and do something. There are tons of things we need to do at home: the decorations need to come down, we need to find homes for all the new presents, T's room needs a good clear out... the list goes on.   Instead, we all wrapped up warmly - including Buddy - and headed out for a good dose of vitamin sea.

We walked up and down the beach and promenade, Buddy barked at nearly all of the dogs he saw.  D took the kids into the arcade, I grabbed a hot chocolate and walked Buddy some more.  I can think of worse places to get my 10,000 steps in!  By the time we left to come home, it was dark and the promenade lighting had come on.  The rest of the evening was quiet, with the kids falling asleep early and D and I having a lazy night.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. There's something about being by the seaside in the colder months, when the wind is up and the sea is crashing in.  Its soothes me.

However you spent your New Year's Eve, I hope it was a good one.
