Review : Pure Pet Food

When I saw Pure were looking for reviews of their dog food, I must say that I jumped at the chance, having been looking at their range just a few days before.

Pure was started by childhood friends Dan and Matt who were researching the range of wet and dry dog food available and wondered why our pets should be exempt from a varied, high quality diet like people enjoy.  Using a dehydration machine they got to work, making small batches in Dan's kitchen and testing their recipes on the pets of family and friends. The food proved popular and as they say, the rest is history.

Pure's dehydrated recipes are a convenient way to provide your dog with fresh and wholesome food with minimal processing, allowing it to retain its nutrients and natural goodness. Pure uses 100% human quality ingredients and is regulated by both the human and animal food authorities.  It is the easiest way of giving a raw food diet to your dog, without the need to store food in your freezer and cutting out the prep work and this is why Pure appealed to me. Having seen a lot of talk about raw diets for dachshunds it definitely appeals to me but as much as I want to feed him the very best, I have to be realistic in terms of the cost, work involved and finding room to store it.

Pure is simple to prepare by following the guidelines and using the measuring scoop. Once it is measured out its simply a case of adding water and mixing the food, which expands in the bowl.

We were sent the dog starter pack for Buddy to test.  It retails at £59.99 and includes 500g of four different flavours - Chicken Delicious, Chicken Dinner, Duck Delight and Turkey Terrific.  Based on a 10kg dog being fed twice daily, this will make up 44 meals.

So, what was Buddy's verdict?  It's rare that he'll turn his nose up at any food but goodness me, he completely wolfed his meals down, going back several times to see if anything had reappeared in it.  They were definitely a hit and I will be looking at ordering once he's worked his way through them all.

Many thanks to Pure for sending the starter pack to us to review.

  2. Oooh, these sound interesting! I do think my dachshunds get bored with their food so try to supplement with other things when I can. These sound like a good alternative or even as an addition to the diet they are already on. Thanks for taste-testing these Buddy! #TwinklyTuesday
