Gratitude Journal #56

Spontaneity
Last Sunday, my friend said she was thinking about going for a daith piercing and asked if I wanted to go with her. It has been a very long time since I've had anything pierced or been spontaneous like that so I thought I'd go for it.  We had a mooch around the shops and breakfast out before psyching ourselves up for it. L went first and was very grateful she did as she said if I had been first, she wouldn't have done it.  Let me say, I've had my nose, tongue and belly button pierced, all of which I went on my own for. I've got my ears pierced. The daith goes through cartilage and hands down, was the most painful thing I think I've ever done. It is, however, meant to help with pain and migraines as it is said to sit on an acupuncture point so we shall see.

E's parent's evening
Last week was it was E's turn for parent's evening. The first thing they said to us was that she's a 'little superstar' and it was all good from there.

Meeting a group of Mums at soft play
The kids are now on half term. They had an extra day off due to some building work being undertaken at the school so Friday saw us meet a group of Mums at soft play. I knew all of them but not all that well so I was a little apprehensive about how it would go.  It went well - we ended up spending over four hours there!

Trip to Ikea
Saturday, we decided to take a trip out to Ikea at Milton Keynes. It's a good couple of hour trek from ours, so it's not something we do very often.  The kids were more than happy walking around, sitting on all the sofas and opening all the cupboards.  We also detoured to Homesense and I was very excited to find a quilt cover I had been searching for online for ages - and even more excited to see it was half price!

Sunday - Party Day
Sunday saw me out for most of the day.  The girls both had a party to attend at the local community centre in the morning. We came home for 20 minutes and then T and I headed out again to another party.  I find parties exhausting but the girls had a great time and that's what matters.

MiL's Knee Op
My MiL had her knee replacement this weekend and, as I write this, has just returned home.  We've been telling her to get it sorted for a couple of years now as she was really struggling to work and she's been putting it off.  The Consultant she saw was surprised she wasn't walking with a walking stick and when she came out of surgery, they told her that it was 'shot' and it would probably only have lasted another six months or so.  We're very grateful she's had it done and that she's feeling ok with it.

  1. Yikes, I hope the daith pearling was worth the pain! I used to take my kids to IKEA for an outing. They loved designing an imaginary room with everything they saw. Great fun! #TwinklyTuesday

  2. Those endless kids parties ruin your weekend - one time we had 4 in a weekend- It was literally all we did. But as you say, it's all part of the gig. #TwinklyTuesday

  5. Not heard of that sort of piercing and not for me at all. Spontaneity is to be encouraged though. So pleased you are counting your blessings and love that last one in particular - us women need to look after ourselves way better methinks #TwinklyTuesday

  6. Good on you for doing something spontaneous! I never knew that a daith piercing is said to help with migraines - I'll be interested to see whether you think that has helped or not. Have a great week! #TwinklyTuesday

  7. Of course I had to look up what a daith piercing is (daith in the Irish language means 'colour', fact fiends) and it sounds painful! Fair play to you for doing it I'm glad someone likes Ikea!! #TwinklyTuesdayu
