Twinkly Tuesday | Featuring This is where it is at

Good Morning and happy Tuesday!  There is a definite chill in the air and my children keep asking me when it is going to snow.... anyone know?!

As we creep towards Christmas, I've chosen a post from This is where it is at, who has shared a great post full of tips about how to reduce food waste at Christmas.  For us, one of the biggest things that has helped us to reduce food waste is using frozen fruit and veg. Obviously, we still use some fresh but if I know I'm not going to use it all in one meal, I rely on frozen. Our freezer always has a good selection of peppers, mushrooms, peas and sweetcorn, as well as a selection of other bits as and when needed.  What tips do you have to help reduce food waste?

  1. I'd never thought of using frozen produce as a way of reducing waste, but you are so right, and the quality of fresh produce here in rural Maine, USA is so unpredictable anyway, that we're not missing out on much. (I miss my garden...)

  2. Thank you for hosting!
I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas
    many greetings

  3. I think having frozen vegetables, frozen fruit, some canned and dried options is a must for my budget. Who doesn't love fresh produce but most of it goes bad quickly and you're left without the staples. I find that cleaning out the fridge and cupboards is very helpful, that way you know what you have, more of an idea when you got it (for spices and condiments which are often overlooked especially) and what you can make with what you've got.
