Gratitude Journal #71

This week it was my birthday so this week's gratitude journal is a birthday themed one.  Here's what I'm grateful for:

D taking the girls out to choose a present
Normally, he just buys something from them and then shows them what they've got me. This year though, they insisted that he took them shopping so that the could choose something.  It was nice to see them so excited about it.

Presents
I was completely spoilt for my birthday.  D and the girls got me some perfume and two huge bars of dairy milk.  I had some gin (Bombay Sapphire, the first gin I ever tried!) and a gorgeous amethyst and silver necklace from friends.  My Mum sent me some money and my in-laws gave me some Emma Bridgewater, which I've collected for a couple of years now.  Since doing the kitchen, I've slowly been changing some pieces so my MiL got me some things I could use, rather than display.

Lazy Day
During the actual day, we didn't do very much. We just stayed at home and had a very lazy day with TV and books.  It was just what I needed before my night out.

Night out
The night of my birthday, I went out with some of my Mum friends from school.  We went to a local restaurant which, other than us, was empty.  The food was good. The gin was good. And so was the company. They had arranged for the table to be decorated and a plate of cupcakes decorated with chocolate stars and candles were brought out at the end, which was very kind.

After the meal, we went down to the working men's club but I ended up coming home earlier than planned.  I had a headache starting and there was something about the atmosphere of the club that had me feeling a little on edge.  I was glad I left when I did as when my friends messaged me the next morning they told me that a fight had broken out not long after I went.

  2. Apart from the feeling and trouble at the club, this sounds like a lovely week. You deserve it as you are lovely too. #TwinklyTuesday

  3. Another storm, man, what is going on? We were left alone to fend for ourselves at a fairly early age. I'm pretty sure I was babysitting by age 8 and cherished any time left alone. Wishing you a calm and sunny rest of the week.
