Lockdown Journal : 20 April 2020

Monday and we're back to schoolwork. Or we should have been, except Google Classrooms wouldn't work.  The school sent us an email to say that they thought it was because so many people were trying to access it.

We had another email from the school today too, talking about various things but mainly the possible return to school in May.  It also says that school will look very different in terms of social distancing, so who knows how that will work. Perhaps half the school or class in on different days?  So long as both of mine are at school at the same time, I'll be happy!

On Saturday I went to the pharmacy to collect my prescription.  I got there at 9.40, they opened at 10 and I was still 5th in the queue.  I got stood in line and without thinking, got too close to the person in front.  I wasn't right next to them but certainly not the two meters.  He turned around and shouted at me infront of everyone. I was mortified and obviously apologised but he was having none of it.  I hope this isn't how things are going to be now.  Needless to say, I made sure to keep completely clear of everyone I could after that!

After, I went to work for 3 hours. We are lucky that we are a small business in a very large warehouse, so there is plenty of room for social distancing.  Luckily I am in my office alone at the moment as one is working from home and the other shielding.  It was so good to get out of the house and sit in silence! I popped to Lidl after, which was a strange experience because all of the roads going into town were empty and I didn't get caught in any traffic.

Yesterday morning, D took the girls on a bike ride. They parked up at the in-laws and went down the river and back. 3 1/2 miles, not bad considering they have only just learned to ride their bikes properly! They then played in the garden for the rest of the afternoon. I did 5km on the cross trainer, read my book and cooked a roast chicken for dinner. It was delicious, if I do say so myself and the girls enjoyed it too!

Last night, I looked out of the bedroom window whilst D was in the bathroom and there were two foxes on our drive.  I've seen one on the road a few times but not on the driveway.  One was waiting for the other, they trotted down the drive and on to the road before going down the road in separate directions. It always surprises me to see them and the deer we see because I just don't expect it in a town centre.
